What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?
The Chiropractic adjustment is a safe, noninvasive procedure used by the chiropractor to restore health. Chiropractic doctors are the only heath care professionals trained to deliver the chiropractic adjustment which is a very precise art of restoring proper biomechanics to the spine and other joints in the body. The Chiropractor will apply a gentle pressure to the areas that are “subluxated “a term used when joints lose their normal position or proper motion. Like a tooth cavity or abscess subluxations are not always painful during the initial stages. Even if you are not experiencing back or joint discomfort you would benefit from receiving periodic spinal checkups as you would a dental checkup.
Benefits of Chiropractic Adjustments
Correcting spinal vertebrae that are subluxated (misaligned) reduces pain, inflammation, muscle spasm/tension, nerve irritation as well as arthritic wear and tear on joints and improves spinal mobility. A significant benefit is that chiropractic spinal adjustments also improve your overall health and well being by improving nerve function. Thus, it is not uncommon for a person to notice improved sleep, energy or moods. Or perhaps a chronic condition such as asthma, migraines or sinus congestion resolves by receiving regular chiropractic adjustments.
Chiropractic Adjustments to Non Spinal Areas
In addition to adjusting the spine and pelvis, almost every other joint in the body can be adjusted by a chiropractor. At Floro chiropractic, we do a complete examination to detect if there is minor stress on non spinal joints, such as the wrist, jaw, knees, ankles, elbows, ribs, shoulders, feet, and treat accordingly with specific chiropractic adjustments to increase the life of the joint. Adjusting brings increased motion to your joints and supplies the joint with nutrients, as motion is the only way to bring nutrients into the joint cartilage and flush toxins out. This is especially important to athletes who place high repetitive stress on their joints.
