Treating Headaches/Migraines With Floro Chiropractic Care
Often we write off headaches as a nuisance and pop some type of over-the-counter pain killer. The problem is, many headaches are a symptom of something else and cannot be treated with just a simple pain killer. Taking a couple pain killers may take away the headache, but it doesn't treat the underlying cause.
Finding Headache Relief Through Chiropractic Care in Eden Prairie
Headache pain is very treatable without having to rely on pain killers. Chiropractic care has proven to be an excellent choice for treating the underlying cause of headaches. Studies have proven that chiropractic care for headaches is at least as effective as pain killers, if not more effective.
If you get headaches regularly, you may have something more serious causing the symptom. Larger health problems are only masked by taking over-the-counter pain killers, but chiropractic care gets to the root of the issue.
Types of Headaches
A headache isn't just a headache. There are several different types of headaches and they can all mean something different. Here's a look at 4 common types of headaches.
- Tension Headaches - A dull type of pain, pressure or tightness felt in the forehead or the back of your head is known as a tension headache. It can feel like a clamp on your skull getting tighter and tighter. This is the most common type of headache for adults and is often a result of spinal misalignment and nerve stress in the neck or base of the skull known as the occipital area.
- Toxic Headaches - Caused usually by a fever and other conditions, such as measles, tonsillitis, pneumonia or mumps, toxic headaches happen most often when a foreign chemical or toxin has entered the body. This type of headache can also be cause by eating foods laced with chemical additives and from inhaling fumes
- TMJ Headaches – The TMJ ( jaw ) can certainly cause headaches, which can be mistaken for migraines. This type of headache also has the ability to trigger a migraine. Upper neck misalignment contributes to TMJ issues such as clicking, grinding and pain.
- Migraines- Considered to be rather severe, migraines are chronic headaches with a pulsating nature. They are often accompanied by nausea, vomiting or sensitivity to light or sound. Migraines can last a few hours or a few days. Nerve stress from spinal tension, hormonal imbalance, sensitivity to foods or chemicals and other factors can trigger a migraine.

"For well over the past twelve years I have suffered from terrible daily headaches which sometimes developed into migraines and I couldn't see out of my right eye, and I would be laid up for the whole day. I also avoided going out in the sun which would make my headaches worse, this is not an easy thing to do when you are the mother of two small children. Advil and Tylenol were always on my grocery list. I relied upon them to help me get through my day. I didn't realize how miserable I felt until Dr. Floro started treating me. After she worked on my neck and back within the first month I got relief. By the second month I seldom had any headaches. Now I don't get any headaches or migraines at all. Thank you Dr. Floro"
